Descendants of Al-Dhahabi

Al-Dhahabi left behind three children who became scholars:

1 - His daughter Umm Salama:

She listened alongside her father to 'Isa ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ma'ali ibn Hammad, Abu Muhammad al-Salihi al-Simsar, and Muṭ'im al-Ashjar, who passed away in the year 719 AH / 1320 CE. Al-Hafidh al-Dhahabi mentions in "Mu'jam Shuyukh al-Kabir" [2/86]: "I said: My children, 'Abdullah and Umm Salama, also heard from him." She and her father received permission from Shaykh al-Mustansiriyah, the renowned scholar and righteous hadith narrator Rashid al-Din Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar ibn Abi al-Qasim al-Baghdadi, who passed away in 707 AH / 1307 CE, as mentioned by Al-Dhahabi in "Mu'jam Shuyukh al-Kabir" [2/204]. He granted them permission to narrate his works on multiple occasions, the first being in the year 695 AH / 1296 CE, and he granted a ijazah to my daughter Umm Salama. He had unique copies of Al-Awali, the first major work of Al-Mukhlisat, the part of Ibn Karamah, the ninth of Al-Jaadiyat, Al-Tirmidhi's edibles, the first of the Al-Awali of Ibn al-Battar, the part of Ibn al-Muhammash, the part of Ibn Balawih, and the fifth and sixth volumes of the Hadith of Ibn Sa'id, and the part of Ibn al-Mundhir, "Ranges of the Repentants," and the esoteric passages of Ibn al-Sarraj in Sufism.

2 - His son Abu Huraira, 'Abd al-Rahman:

He studied alongside his father with the aunt of Al-Hafidh al-Dhahabi: Sitt al-Ahl, daughter of 'Uthman ibn Qaymaz ibn 'Abdullah, Umm Muhammad, who passed away in 729 AH / 1329 CE, as mentioned by Al-Dhahabi in "Mu'jam Shuyukh al-Kabir" [1/285].

He also listened, along with his father Al-Hafidh al-Dhahabi, to 'Abd al-Muhsin ibn Ibrahim ibn Khawlan al-Salihi, who passed away in 722 AH, as mentioned in "Mu'jam Shuyukh al-Kabir" [1/416].

He listened with his father from Fatima, the daughter of the leading figure 'Izz al-Din Ibrahim ibn 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Salihiyah al-Hanbaliyah. Al-Dhahabi mentions in "Mu'jam Shuyukh al-Kabir" [2/102]: "She narrated to us a copy of Abu Mushar, the part of Al-Furati, and they were heard with me by my son 'Abd al-Rahman."

He also listened with his father from Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Zaradi al-Hariri al-Salihi, who died in 726 AH / 1326 CE. Al-Hafidh says in "Mu'jam Shuyukh al-Kabir" [2/170]: "I heard from him with my son 'Abd al-Rahman the part of Ibn 'Arafah, the part of Ibn Fayl, the 'fihrist' (Catalogue) and "Friday" and the copy of Ibrahim ibn Sa'd, the part of Al-Furati, the copy of Abu Mushar, the part of Al-Kisai, and along with it the dhikr by Ibn Faris, the virtues of Muawiya, the benefits of Nasr, the part of Ibn al-Furat, and the knowledge of Abu Khaythama."
