Stanley Lane Poole's View of the Qur'an
"The style of the Qur'an is a paternal style full of emotion and life... The words are those of a man who is sincere to his calling, and they are still bear the hallmark of enthusiasm and strength; within its folds lies that spark that was cast..." says Stanley Lane Poole.
Signs of Prophecy in Prophet Mohammad's Sublime Life and His struggle
The life of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) reached the pinnacle of grandeur that any human could achieve. His life before Prophethood was exemplary in honesty, dignity, and trustworthiness, and after the revelation, it was all about sacrifice, patience, and struggle in the way of Allah, sacrifices that put his life at risk multiple times. If it weren't for Muhammad's sincerity in conveying his Lord's message and his absolute faith in the mission with which Allah entrusted him, we would have seen life denying what he said.
The Prophet's Call to His Close Relatives
According to Ibn Abbas: When the revelation "And warn your closest kindred" was revealed, The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) climbed the Mount Safa and said, "O tribe of Quraysh!". The Quraysh said: Muhammad is on Safa calling out, so they came and gathered, asking him: "What is it, O Muhammad?" He replied, "If I were to tell you that there are horses at the base of this mountain, would you believe me?" They said: "Yes, we trust you and we have never found you to be a liar." He then said, "Verily, I am a warner to you before severe torment. O sons of Abd Manaf, O sons of Zuhra", counting the clans of Quraysh, "Allah has commanded me to warn my closest kin. I do not have any worldly benefits for you, nor any share in the Hereafter, except that you declare: There is no god except Allah."

Prophet Muhammad's Warning and Quraysh's Objections
Once, Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When Allah Almighty revealed: "And warn your closest kinfolk" (Qur'an 26:214), the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood up and said: "O assembly of Quraysh (or words to that effect), purchase your own selves (i.e., save yourselves from the Fire), I cannot avail you against Allah; O 'Abd Manaf clan, I cannot avail you against Allah; O Abbas, son of 'Abd al-Muttalib, I cannot avail you against Allah; O Safiyyah, aunt of the Messenger of Allah, I cannot avail you against Allah; O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad, ask me whatever you want of my wealth, but I cannot avail you against Allah."
Quraysh's Appeal to Abu Talib
Biographies describe Quraysh's attempts to persuade Abu Talib to stop Muhammad (peace be upon him) from continuing his call (to Islam). When they met him, they said: "O Abu Talib! Your nephew keeps abusing our gods, denigrating our religion, criticizing our dreams, and finding fault with our ancestors. Either you restrain him, or you should let the matter between us and him be — as you are also perturbed due to his opposing views — and we will deal with him." In response, Abu Talib used mild words and dismissed them gracefully, and they left. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) continued proclaiming the religion of Allah, and calling others to it. Then, the matter between him and them worsened, causing the people to distance, and quarrel. The Quraysh mentioned the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) more frequently amongst themselves, they murmured about him, and they continued to incite against him, and then they approached Abu Talib again, and they said to him: "O Abu Talib! You have age, honor, and status amongst us. We have pleaded with you concerning your nephew, but you did not restrain him. By Allah, we cannot endure this abuse of our ancestors, our dreams being ridiculed, and the slander of our gods - until you stop him, or leave him to us until one party perishes".
Abu Talib's Dilemma
The challenge of the hostility and alienation of his people greatly troubled Abu Talib, but he was not upset at the Message the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was delivering to them nor did he abandon him.
