Part Three

The Collection of the Expeditions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, Himself and His Campaigns

Introduction

The purpose of this book is to explain the proofs of the authenticity of his Prophethood and to inform about the truthfulness of his message and what became evident during his time with the victory of Allah, the Most High, for His religion and the fulfillment of His promise to them as mentioned by His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to the current rulers on earth, as He granted it to those before them; that He will grant them authority to practice their religion which He has chosen for them; and that He will surely give them in exchange security and peace after their fear, so that they may worship Me alone and not associate anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after this, they are the rebellious ones."

The Campaigns

The number of expeditions in which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, personally took part as a warrior was twenty-seven, and he fought in nine of them. Among these were: Badr, Uhud, Al-Muraysi', the Trench, Qurayzah, Khaybar, the Conquest of Mecca, Hunayn, Ta'if, and the overall number of his expeditions or campaigns was forty-seven or even possibly closer to sixty. According to the scholars of narrations and biographies, a campaign is a battle attended by the Messenger himself, while a mission or a raid is when he sends a group from among his companions.
