Chapter of the Battle of Bi'r Ma'unah
Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz, may Allah have mercy on him, reported that Abu Al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub informed them that Ahmed ibn Abd Al-Jabbar told them that Yunus ibn Bukayr narrated from Ibn Ishaq, who said that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, stayed in Madinah during the end of Shawwal, Dhul Qa'dah, Dhul Hijjah, and Muharram. Then he sent a group of companions to Bi'r Ma'unah in Safar for the duration of four months from Uhud.
Ibn Ishaq mentioned that his father, Ishaq ibn Yasar, narrated from Al-Mughirah ibn Abdur-Rahman ibn Al-Harith ibn Hisham, Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Hazm, and others from the people of knowledge, who said that Abu Al-Bara' Amir ibn Malik ibn Ja'far arrived in Madinah playing with spears. He presented Islam to the Messenger of Allah and invited him.

Rasulullah's Decision to Send Messengers to Najd
Shortly after the revelation of Islam, a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) suggesting to send messengers to invite the people of Najd to embrace Islam. However, the Prophet expressed concern about the people of Najd, but Abu al-Baraa insisted that he was a neighbor and could help. The Prophet then chose Mundhir ibn Amr to lead the mission, along with a group of forty noble companions, including Harith ibn Simmah, Haram ibn Milhan, Uruwah ibn Asma, Nafi ibn Warqa, and Amir ibn Fuhayrah.
The Mission to Najd
They set out and reached the well of Ma'unah, belonging to the Banu Amir and bordering the lands of the Banu Harrah and Banu Salim tribes. Haram ibn Milhan was sent with a letter from the Prophet to their enemy, Amir ibn Tuwayl. Upon receiving the letter, Amir refused to read it and instead attacked Haram, killing him. The Banu Amir then refused to respond to the invitation to Islam.
The Conversion of Abu Baraa
It is notable that on that day, Abu Baraa converted to Islam and fled, as mentioned in a poetic verse. He was known for his swift actions and had four brothers: Tufayl, Rabi'ah, Dilbid ibn Rabi'ah, Ubaydah al-Wadah, and Muawiya Mu'awwad al-Hukamaa. Despite this, the Banu Amir did not honor their agreement with him.

The Battle of the Trench
In a swift move, tribes from the Banu Sulaym, including the clans of Urayl, Ric'al, Thakwan, and Al-Qarata, were summoned to assist. They responded and surrounded the enemy, engaging in a fierce battle until all were killed except Ka'b ibn Zaid, the brother of Bani Dinār ibn an-Najjār, who was left with a gaping wound amid the corpses. He lived until the day of the Trench.
Key Figures
Among the people present were Amr ibn Umayyah ad-Damri and a man from the Ansar of the Banu Amr ibn Awf. They were only alerted to the enemy's situation by birds circling the camp. When they witnessed the carnage and the motionless horses, the Ansari said to Amr, "Shall we go inform the Messenger of Allah?" Amr deliberated on the loss of the champion Munzir ibn Amr and decided to fight until he was killed, while Amr was taken captive. Upon revealing his identity as a Mudari, he was released by Amir ibn at-Tufail, his nose was cut off, and he was freed in exchange for a woman who was allegedly held in bondage by his family. Amr journeyed until he reached a place near the flow of a canal when two men from the Banu Amir approached, seeking refuge, having a pact of protection from the Messenger of Allah, which Amr was unaware of. When he requested their identity and they replied, "From the Banu Amir," he granted them respite but later killed them, believing he had avenged the Banu Amir's fallen comrades.
Meeting with the Messenger
Upon meeting the Prophet Muhammad, Amr recounted the events. The Prophet remarked, "He has embarked with his wound for the unknown place: lifted up, bearing scars." The Prophet then shared his thoughts on the slain comrades, acknowledging that he was not informed about their situation by others. The term "Tha'ara" here refers to retaliation for the losses suffered by the companions of the Prophet.

Translation of Classical Arabic Text
The Prophet’s (peace be upon him) Words:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "You have killed two people and I will pay their blood money." Then, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "This is the act of Abu Bara', I used to dislike and fear it." Abu Bara' learned about this, and he had the payment of blood money imposed on him. None of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) faced any harm or punishment because of his proximity to Abu Bara'. Amir ibn Fuhayra was one of those affected by this case.
An Incident with Abu Bara':
Rabi'ah ibn 'Amir ibn Malik attacked Amir ibn al-Tufayl, causing him injury, while saying, "This is the act of Abu Bara'. If I die, let my blood be for my uncle, so they can't seek revenge for it. If I live, I will show my intention."
Another Narration:
It was reported that Hasan ibn Thabit composed verses about the incident involving Amir and Abu Bara'. When Rabi'ah came with the verses, he asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) if he could punish Amir, to which the Prophet (peace be upon him) agreed. Amir was then punished and his wound was treated to heal. His tribe then took him away as a form of punishment for what he did.
Conclusion:
This incident involving Amir ibn al-Tufayl and Abu Bara' serves as a significant lesson and a testament to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) wisdom in resolving conflicts among his companions.

The Expedition to Ma'una and the Story of 'Amir ibn Fuhayrah
Background
In this account, a sariyah (small expedition) was dispatched towards the land of Banu Sulaym on the day of Bi'r Ma'unah. The leader of the sariyah was 'Amir ibn Fuhayrah.
The Mission
When the expedition was on its way, they sent Haram ibn Milhan to them with a letter from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for them to read. 'Amir ibn Malik, from Banu 'Amir, met him and provided him protection until he read the letter to them.
The Betrayal and Conflict
Upon receiving the message, 'Amir ibn Tufayl ambushed Haram and killed him, despite the protection granted to him. 'Amir then demanded that unless they guarantee his safety until he confronts Haram ibn Milhan, he would continue to target their women. A fierce battle ensued, leading to 'Amir's death.
The Revelation and Return
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) later remarked that 'Amir should have been spared to embrace Islam. 'Amr ibn Umayyah, who had also been captured, was released and instructed to return to the Prophet and convey what had transpired.
The Pursuit and Redemption
Three members of the expedition led by 'Amir ibn Fuhayrah got lost, suspecting foul play. While two were killed when discovered, the third returned to inform the Prophet of the treachery.

Story of the Conversion of Amar ibn Malik
Musa ibn Uqbah reported that Ibn Shihab used to say about this hadith: Abdullah ibn 'Abdullah ibn Ka'b ibn Malik al-Sulami, along with some men of knowledge, narrated that Amar ibn Malik ibn Ja'far, also known as Mula'ib Al-Asinnah, came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while still a polytheist. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, presented Islam to him, but he refused to convert and instead offered a gift. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "I do not accept gifts from polytheists." Amar ibn Malik said, "O Messenger of Allah, send with me whoever you wish from your messengers, and I will remain their neighbor." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then sent a group with him, including Mundhir ibn Amr al-Sa'di, known for his loyalty to his tribe, to Najd. Amar ibn Atufayl heard of them and mustered his people, the Banu Sulaim, who killed Mundhir and his companions at Bi'r Ma'unah, except for 'Amr ibn Umayyah al-Damri, whom Amar ibn Atufayl captured and sent to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
More Narrations
Various narrators mentioned in different chains that a group of people came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, seeking teachers of the Quran and Sunnah. The Prophet sent seventy men from the Ansar, referred to as the Qurra, among whom was Khalid ibn Haram, to teach the Quran and discuss it. This narration is summarized by Ibn 'Abd al-Barr about Musa ibn Uqbah in "Ad-Durar fi Ikhtisar al-Maghazi wal-Siyar" on page 161, stating that Ibn Ishaq's version is more accurate and clear. Ibn Ishaq's narration is then presented similar to the content provided above.

Learning at Night
During the night, people would gather and learn. During the day, they would bring water to the mosque, place it there, chop firewood to sell and use the proceeds to provide food for the people of virtue. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent them a message, but they aggressed against them and killed them before reaching their destination. They said, "O Allah! Inform our Prophet that we have met You, and we are pleased with You, and You are pleased with us."
Tragic Incident
A man followed them in a state of ihram (sacred state of pilgrimage) and killed one of them with a spear, saying, "Tabeet, I am surely rewarded! By the Lord of Ka'bah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed his companions that "Your brothers have been killed." They supplicated, "O Allah! Inform our Prophet that we have met You, and we are pleased with You, and You are pleased with us." This incident is reported by Imam Muslim in his authentic collection.
Important Narrative
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud warned against false testimonies of a person being declared a martyr. He recounted an incident where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a patrol, and upon their return, he confirmed that they had overcome the enemies. The enemies had been defeated completely, and their last words were, "O our Lord! Inform our people that we are pleased with You, and You are pleased with us. The Prophet is our messenger to you, confirming our contentment." This narration is mentioned by Imam Tabarani and others.

باب ما ذكر في المغازي من وقوع عين قتادة بن النعمان على وجنته ورد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عينه إلى مكانها وعودها إلى حالها - 44 . The chapter of the two kings who were fighting for the Messenger of God, may peace be upon him, on the day of Uhud, and they were defending him and the responsibility of God Almighty to prevent him from being killed as He promised him by His words: "And Allah will protect you from people 5:67 [1]."
باب الملكين الذين كانا يقاتلان عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم أحد ويدفعان عنه وعصمة الله تعالى إياه عن القتل كما وعده بقوله: والله يعصمك من الناس ٥: ٦٧ [١] - 45 . Chapter on the intensity of hardship the Messenger of Allah, Peace be Upon Him, faced, and the affirmation of Almighty God’s word regarding Abi Ibn Khalf, and what befell him on the Day of Uhud from wounds in the path of Allah - the Almighty.
باب شدة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في البأس، وتصديق الله عز وجل قوله في أبي بن خلف، وما أصابه يوم أحد من الجراح في سبيل الله - عز وجل - - 46 . This is how it translates:
Chapter on the Saying of Allah: "And certainly did Allah fulfill His promise to you when you were killing the enemy by His permission until [the time] when you lost courage and fell to disputing about the order given and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you love." (3:152) Verse. And the saying of Allah: "When you ascended and did not look back at anyone while the Messenger was calling you from behind. So Allah repaid you with distress upon distress so you would not grieve for that which had escaped you [in battle] or [for] that which had befallen you."
باب قول الله عز وجل ولقد صدقكم الله وعده إذ تحسونهم بإذنه، حتى إذا فشلتم وتنازعتم في الأمر ٣: ١٥٢ [١] الآية. وقول الله - عز وجل - إذ تصعدون ولا تلوون على أحد والرسول يدعوكم في أخراكم فأثابكم غما بغم لكيلا تحزنوا على ما فاتكم ولا ما أصابكم و - 47 . Chapter on the number of Muslims who were martyred on the day of Uhud and the number of pagans who were killed that day.
باب عدد من استشهد من المسلمين يوم أحد وعدد من قتل من المشركين يومئذ - 48 . Chapter: What happened after the war ended and the pagans leaving matters of the dead and wounded, and those who excelled in war, and what appeared of effects in the condition of the martyrs, in a summarized manner.
باب ما جرى بعد انقضاء الحرب وذهاب المشركين في أمر القتلى والجرحى ومن أجاد الحرب وما ظهر من الآثار في حال الشهداء على طريق الاختصار - 49 . Chapter on the statement of Allah the Almighty: "And do not think of those who were killed in His cause as dead; rather they are alive, with their Lord, well-provided, rejoicing in what Allah has given them out of His bounty" (3:169-170). And on the virtues of the martyrs of Uhud, and the etiquette of visiting their graves in brief.
باب قول الله عز وجل: ولا تحسبن الذين قتلوا في سبيل الله أمواتا بل أحياء عند ربهم يرزقون، فرحين بما آتاهم الله من فضله ٣: ١٦٩ - ١٧٠ [١] الآية، وما ورد في فضل شهداء أحد، وزيارة قبورهم على سبيل الاختصار. - 50 . The section of God's words says, 'Those of you who turned back on the day the two hosts met, it was Satan who caused them to slip because of some (sins) they had earned. But indeed, God has pardoned them. Indeed, God is Forgiving and Patient.' 3:155 [1].
باب قول الله عز وجل إن الذين تولوا منكم يوم التقى الجمعان إنما استزلهم، الشيطان ببعض ما كسبوا ولقد عفا الله عنهم إن الله غفور حليم ٣: ١٥٥ [١] . - 51 . The text translates to: "The chapter on the Prophet's, peace be upon him, departure to Hamra al-Asad [1]. God the Almighty says, 'Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger after being struck by misfortune - for those who did good among them and feared Allah, is a great reward' 3:172 [2]."

Chapter on what the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, found about those who were killed at the well of Ma'una, his prayers for their killers, what God almighty revealed about them, and the evidence that emerged regarding 'Amir bin Fuhayra, may God be pleased with him.
باب ما وجد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على من قتل ببئر معونة ودعائه على قتلتهم وما أنزل الله عز وجل في شأنهم، وما ظهر من الآثار في عامر بن فهيرة رضي الله عنه. - 57 . "The chapter of the invasion of the Banu Nadir and God Almighty informing of His praise to His Messenger, peace be upon him, about what the Banu Nadir intended of deceit. Az-Zuhri, may God have mercy on him, believed that it took place before the battle of Uhud, while others believed that it occurred after it and after the incident at the well of Ma'una. The accounts have passed as aforementioned."
باب غزوة بني النضير وإخبار الله عز وجل ثناؤه رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم بما أراد به بنو النضير من المكر وكان الزهري رحمه الله يذهب إلى أنها كانت قبل أحد وذهب آخرون إلى أنها كانت بعده وبعد بئر معونة وقد مضت الأخبار في ذلك فيما تقدم [١] - 58 . The chapter on inviting Amro bin Saadi, the Jew, to Islam after the expulsion of Bani al-Nadir and his admission, and the admission of those Jews who acknowledged, of the characteristic of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in the Torah.
باب دعوة عمرو بن سعدى اليهودي إلى الإسلام بعد إجلاء بني النضير واعترافه واعتراف من اعترف من اليهود. بوجود صفة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في التوراة - 59 . The chapter of the invasion of Banu Lihyan, which is the expedition during which the fear prayer was performed at 'Usfan, when news was received from the sky regarding what the polytheists were plotting.

باب مجيء الأحزاب ونقض بني قريظة ما كان بينهم وبين رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم) من العهد والميثاق. - 72 . The chapter on the adversity faced by the Prophet, peace be upon him, and the Muslims due to the besiegement by the polytheists, and the intensity of distress that brought out the doubt and betrayal present in the hearts of some hypocrites. It became so intense that the Muslims had to forego their prescribed prayers to continue their fight, and some even went forth for individual combat. As the Prophet of Allah said, [continued].
باب ما أصاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والمسلمين من محاصرة المشركين إياهم من البلاء، والشدة حتى أظهر بعض المنافقين ما في قلوبهم من الريب والخيانة، وحتى شغل المسلمين قتالهم عن الصلاة المكتوبة، وخروج من خرج منهم إلى المبارزة، وقول رسول الله [صلى - 73 . The chapter of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, sending Hudhayfah ibn Al-Yaman, may Allah be pleased with him, to the pagans' camp and what he witnessed there as signs of prophecy, standing that night over what was sent to the pagans in terms of wind and troops, and Allah's confirmation of His Prophet', peace be upon him, statement about what He promised Hudhayfah.

باب قول النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بعد ذهاب الأحزاب: الآن نغزوهم ولا يغزونا فكان كما قال - 76 . The text translates to: The section on God's statement, may He be Exalted: Perhaps God will make friendship between you and those whom you consider your enemies 60:7 [1]. And the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, married Umm Habiba, the daughter of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb.
باب قول الله عز وجل: عسى الله أن يجعل بينكم وبين الذين عاديتم منهم مودة ٦٠: ٧ [١] وتزوج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بأم حبيبة بنت أبي سفيان بن حرب - 77 . Chapter on what was reported about the marriage of the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, to Umm Salama, the daughter of Abi Umayya bin Al Mughira bin Abdullah bin Amr bin Makhzum, and what appeared about his supplication for her response.
