Babu Dhikri Sababi Khurooji an-Nabiyyi sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallama wa Ru'yati 'Atikata Binti 'Abdil-Muttalibi fi Khurooji al-Mushrikin wa Ma A'adda Allahu 'Azza wa Jalla li-Nabiyyihi min an-Nasri fi dhalika bi-Badr
Allah Almighty revealed: "When you were on the nearer side of the valley, and they were on the farther side, and the caravan was lower [in position] than you. If you had made an appointment [to meet], you would have missed the appointment. But [it was] so that Allah might accomplish a matter already destined - that those who perished [through disbelief] would perish upon evidence and those who lived [in faith] would live upon evidence. And indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing."

He did not reprimand anyone who stayed behind from these battles. The Messenger of Allah only went out with those who left willingly from his companions who wanted to pursue the caravan that belonged to the disbelievers of Quraysh."

Translation of Classical Arabic Text
In a narration reported by Abu Sufyan ibn Harb, he mentioned the hadith and Aqil reported from Zuhri: They meant a raid on Quraysh until Allah brought them and their enemies together abruptly. This was narrated by Al-Bukhari in Al-Sahih from Muhammad ibn Yahya, from Ahmad ibn Abi Shuayb, and from Yahya ibn Bukayr.
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Saeed told us: Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Al-Fadl narrated to us that Abu Al-Abbas, Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, informed us; he said that Ahmad ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Utariyy narrated to them; he said that Yunus ibn Bukayr reported from Ibn Ishaq; he said that Husayn ibn Abd Allah ibn Ubayd Allah ibn Abbas told him from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas: Ibn Ishaq reported to us and Yazid ibn Ruman reported from Urwah ibn Al-Zubayr...
"Atikah bint Abdul Muttalib saw in a dream a man riding his camel entering Makkah for three nights announcing, 'O Banu Gudar, prepare for battle in three days.' The people responded and gathered around him. His camel entered the mosque, and people gathered around him. His camel stood at the top of the Kaaba and he repeated the call. Then his camel stood at the head of Abu Qubays... "
This hadith has also been mentioned in detail by Al-Bukhari in the Book of Legal Judgments, Chapter: "Can the Imam prevent the criminals and sinners from talking to him, visiting him, etc." And there are many other paths for this hadith as explained by Al-Mizzi in "Tuhfat Al-Ashraf".

Abbas' Warning to Banu Abd al-Muttalib About a Dream
Abbas said: "Rise, O people of Ghudar, to your wrestling in threes." Then he took a rock, sent it from the top of the mountain, and it rolled until, when it reached the bottom, it disintegrated. Not one house of your people's dwellings remained unentered. Abbas said: "By Allah, this is a vision, keep it hidden." They responded: "You keep it hidden, lest the Quraysh hear of it." Abbas left and met al-Walid ibn Utbah, who had a confidant to whom he mentioned the dream and urged him to keep it secret. He informed his father, al-Walid repeated it, and the news spread. Abbas said: "By Allah, I am going to the Kaaba to perform Tawaf." When he entered the mosque, he found Abu Jahl with a group from Quraysh discussing a dream. Abu Jahl Questions Abbas about the Dream
Abu Jahl said to Abbas, "O Abu al-Fadl, when did this prophecy occur among you?" Abbas replied, "What is that?" Abu Jahl asked if Atika bint Abdul-Muttalib's vision was accepted by the family. He warned them that if true, they would face consequences, if not, they would be labeled as liars. Abbas denied the vision, saying he neither saw nor heard of it. That evening, every woman from Banu Abd al-Muttalib came to him, questioning why he allowed such disgraceful rumors about their men. [Continue]
Confrontation with the Prophet's Prediction
They accused him of lacking protection for their honor, but he insisted he rejected the claims. They warned that women were talking, and he needed to address it. Abbas vowed to confront the issue and sought the man involved. As he approached, the man had a fierce countenance and hurried away from the mosque. Abbas silently prayed against him for causing such discord. Despite trying to brush the man off, he heard what he had not, and understood it to be the gossip of Damdam bin Amr. [Continue]
Conclusion and Final Confrontation
Each encounter escalated tensions until Abbas decided to verbally challenge the man. Approaching him, the man swiftly left, leading his camel by the bridle. Abbas, disgusted by the situation, prayed for his curse. This incident, from the initial whispering to the final confrontation, unveiled a series of misunderstandings and miscommunications among Banu Abd al-Muttalib.

His garment and the nose of his camel were torn. He said: O people of Quraysh! Your wealth is with Abu Sufyan, and your trade has been overtaken by Muhammad and his followers. The help needed, help needed! This kept him occupied from me, and me from him. We were preoccupied with preparations until we left. Quraysh suffered that which it suffered at the Battle of Badr: their nobles were killed, and their elites were captured. Atika bint Abdul Muttalib described what she saw, and Quraish said in response: Wasn't the dream true? It came to you, and you believed it. A section of the people fled, you claimed - and do not lie - you lied, as those who lie falsely. Abu Abdullah mentioned in his book of battles a lengthy poem...

Analysis and Commentary
The narrator "Jid'u Ba'iruhu" indicates that the nose of his camel was cut off. This information can be found in the biography of Ibn Hisham (2:245-247), Al-Waqidi's "Maghazi" (1:28-33), and documented by Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak (3:19-20). Adh-Dhahabi remarked on Hussein ibn Abdullah’s weakness in this transmission. The narrator of this hadith, "Hussein ibn Abdullah ibn Ubaidullah ibn Abbas," was mentioned by Al-Bukhari in "Al-Tareekh Al-Kabeer" (1:2:388) as having abandoned his narrations, while An-Nasai classified him as unreliable. Al-Aqili accused him of heresy in "Ad-Du'afa Al-Kabeer" (1:245) and Ibn Hibban highlighted him in "Al-Majruheen" (1:242). Additionally, there is a biography of him in "Al-Mizan" (1:537). In Sa the name is recorded as "Hayyan", a misspelling, and his biography is present in "Tahzeeb Al-Tahzeeb" (9:507).

Rasul Allah's Preparation for a Trade Expedition
In this passage, we learn that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) heard about Abu Sufyan ibn Harb leading a caravan of forty Quraysh traders from Syria. He urged the Muslims to intercept the caravan, believing that their participation would be beneficial. The Prophet and his followers set out with around 300 riders and numerous foot soldiers. Some speculated that the expedition was financed by Al-Miqdad.
Abu Sufyan's Alert
As Abu Sufyan approached Hijaz, he sought information about the Muslims' activities. Not finding reliable intel, he continued his journey. One of the caravan companies finally informed him of a potential threat, prompting him to swiftly dispatch Dhamdhamah ibn Amr al-Ghifari back to Quraysh with a warning.
Quraysh's Reaction
Upon receiving the alert, Quraysh mobilized swiftly, preparing a force of 950 fighters and 250 horsemen under the leadership of Abu Sufyan. They were joined by women who sang war chants. Only Abu Lahab abstained, sending Al-As ibn Hisham in his place.

Prophet Muhammad's Journey to Badr
In this historical account, we find Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم setting off on a journey towards Badr, accompanied by a few companions. Upon reaching a watering hole, they overheard a conversation between two women regarding an imminent caravan from Quraysh. Sensing an opportunity, the companions swiftly moved to intercept the caravan for reconnaissance. They later returned to inform the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم about their findings.
Abu Sufyan's Response
Upon hearing of the approaching threat, Abu Sufyan took precautions to safeguard the caravan's goods and turned back towards Quraysh. However, Abu Jahl insisted on proceeding to Badr, a lucrative trading hub, to establish a camp for feasting and entertainment, despite the danger posed by the Prophet's companions. This decision led to a clash between the two groups.
Divine Intervention
Despite Abu Jahl's stubbornness, a tribal leader, Al-Akhnas ibn Shariq, warned the Quraysh of impending danger and advised them to retreat. Some followed his advice and avoided calamity, while others disregarded the warning, leading to a pivotal moment in the history of Islam.

Consultation before Battle
When the Quraysh planned to intercept their trade caravan, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) consulted the people. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) advised well, followed by Umar, then Al-Miqdad ibn Amr who pledged full support. He told the Prophet that they would fight with him, unlike the Israelites who told Moses to go with his Lord to fight while they sat back. Al-Miqdad swore to fight alongside the Prophet, even if it meant traveling to the furthest land.
Pledge of Support
The Ansar pledged allegiance to the Prophet at Aqabah. They promised to protect him until he reached their city and then assured him of their protection. The Messenger of Allah was concerned that the Ansar would only support him within Medina, not outside its boundaries. Saad ibn Muadh’s declaration that they were with the Prophet wherever he goes reassured the Prophet of their loyalty and commitment.
Ready to Fight
Saad ibn Muadh’s proclamation of unwavering support stirred the Prophet's heart. He felt secure in the Ansar's devotion and readiness to face any challenge. Their loyalty and pledge of obedience moved the Prophet, who was assured that they would stand by him in every battle and adversity.
Divine Promise
As the Prophet saw Quraysh approaching Badr, he recalled the promise of Allah. Confident in the support of the Ansar and in the divine assurance, he marched forth with the utmost faith in the upcoming battle.

From the Bottom of the Valley to Badr
The enemy came from the depths of the valley to Madinah, and Allah sent down rain, causing the valley to become muddy. This impeded the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions but did not hinder their progress. Some from the Quraysh were unable to proceed and stay with them, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) continued towards the water until reaching Badr. The Quraysh arrived first, and as they approached the closest water, Al-Hubab bin Al-Mundhir said to the Prophet: "Is this the place where Allah has ordained you to camp, not allowing us to surpass or fall short of it? Is it a divine inspiration or a military strategy?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied: "It is a divine inspiration and a military strategy." Al-Hubab then suggested that the Prophet position himself strategically so that only one side was exposed to the enemy while the rest were protected. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) followed this advice, dug a reservoir, and engaged in battle with the tribes, drinking from the water while they could not. Eventually, Allah judged between them. The hearts of the believers were strengthened, a reservoir was built to supply water, and the enemies were left thirsty. When Quraysh advanced the next morning, Utbah bin Rabi’ah led them on a red camel.
When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw them approaching through the sand dunes, he prayed, "O Allah, Quraysh has come with their horses and pride to reject Your Messenger. O Allah, support us in the morning." Then Ibn Ishaq mentioned the wisdom of Hakim bin Hizam in avoiding confrontation, Utbah bin Rabi’ah's agreement, Abu Jahl's disagreement, and Utbah's defiance until he invoked him to defecate.

باب سياق قصة خروج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى أحد وكيف كانت الوقعة - 40 . "Chapter on the Mentioning of the Number of Muslims on the Day of Uhud, and the Number of Polytheists, and God's Statement: 'And [remember] when you, [O Muhammad], left your family in the early morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle - And Allah is Hearing and Knowing - when two parties among you were about to lose courage, but Allah was their ally; and upon Allah the believers should rely. 3:121-122. [1] And His statement: 'So what is [the matter] with you concerning the hypocrites, [that you become] two parties?."
باب ذكر عدد المسلمين يوم أحد وعدد المشركين، وقول الله عز وجل: وإذ غدوت من أهلك تبوئ المؤمنين مقاعد للقتال والله سميع عليم، إذ همت طائفتان منكم أن تفشلا والله وليهما، وعلى الله فليتوكل المؤمنون ٣: ١٢١ - ١٢٢ [١] وقوله: فما لكم في المنافقين فئت - 41 . Chapter: How the departure to Uhud was and the battle between the Muslims and the polytheists on that day.
باب كيف كان الخروج إلى أحد والقتال بين المسلمين والمشركين يومئذ - 42 . Chapter: Encouragement of the Prophet, peace be upon him, for his companions to Fight on the Day of Uhud and confirmation of who was saved by Allah - Almighty and Majestic -
باب تحريض النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أصحابه على القتال يوم أحد وثبوت من عصمه الله - عز وجل - - 43 . Chapter on what was mentioned in the campaigns about the incident where the eye of Qatadah bin al-Nu'man was struck and fell on his cheek, and the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, restored his eye to its place and returned it to its previous state.
باب ما ذكر في المغازي من وقوع عين قتادة بن النعمان على وجنته ورد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عينه إلى مكانها وعودها إلى حالها - 44 . The chapter of the two kings who were fighting for the Messenger of God, may peace be upon him, on the day of Uhud, and they were defending him and the responsibility of God Almighty to prevent him from being killed as He promised him by His words: "And Allah will protect you from people 5:67 [1]."
باب الملكين الذين كانا يقاتلان عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم أحد ويدفعان عنه وعصمة الله تعالى إياه عن القتل كما وعده بقوله: والله يعصمك من الناس ٥: ٦٧ [١] - 45 . Chapter on the intensity of hardship the Messenger of Allah, Peace be Upon Him, faced, and the affirmation of Almighty God’s word regarding Abi Ibn Khalf, and what befell him on the Day of Uhud from wounds in the path of Allah - the Almighty.
باب شدة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في البأس، وتصديق الله عز وجل قوله في أبي بن خلف، وما أصابه يوم أحد من الجراح في سبيل الله - عز وجل - - 46 . This is how it translates:
Chapter on the Saying of Allah: "And certainly did Allah fulfill His promise to you when you were killing the enemy by His permission until [the time] when you lost courage and fell to disputing about the order given and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you love." (3:152) Verse. And the saying of Allah: "When you ascended and did not look back at anyone while the Messenger was calling you from behind. So Allah repaid you with distress upon distress so you would not grieve for that which had escaped you [in battle] or [for] that which had befallen you."
باب قول الله عز وجل ولقد صدقكم الله وعده إذ تحسونهم بإذنه، حتى إذا فشلتم وتنازعتم في الأمر ٣: ١٥٢ [١] الآية. وقول الله - عز وجل - إذ تصعدون ولا تلوون على أحد والرسول يدعوكم في أخراكم فأثابكم غما بغم لكيلا تحزنوا على ما فاتكم ولا ما أصابكم و - 47 . Chapter on the number of Muslims who were martyred on the day of Uhud and the number of pagans who were killed that day.
باب عدد من استشهد من المسلمين يوم أحد وعدد من قتل من المشركين يومئذ - 48 . Chapter: What happened after the war ended and the pagans leaving matters of the dead and wounded, and those who excelled in war, and what appeared of effects in the condition of the martyrs, in a summarized manner.
باب ما جرى بعد انقضاء الحرب وذهاب المشركين في أمر القتلى والجرحى ومن أجاد الحرب وما ظهر من الآثار في حال الشهداء على طريق الاختصار - 49 . Chapter on the statement of Allah the Almighty: "And do not think of those who were killed in His cause as dead; rather they are alive, with their Lord, well-provided, rejoicing in what Allah has given them out of His bounty" (3:169-170). And on the virtues of the martyrs of Uhud, and the etiquette of visiting their graves in brief.
باب قول الله عز وجل: ولا تحسبن الذين قتلوا في سبيل الله أمواتا بل أحياء عند ربهم يرزقون، فرحين بما آتاهم الله من فضله ٣: ١٦٩ - ١٧٠ [١] الآية، وما ورد في فضل شهداء أحد، وزيارة قبورهم على سبيل الاختصار. - 50 . The section of God's words says, 'Those of you who turned back on the day the two hosts met, it was Satan who caused them to slip because of some (sins) they had earned. But indeed, God has pardoned them. Indeed, God is Forgiving and Patient.' 3:155 [1].
باب قول الله عز وجل إن الذين تولوا منكم يوم التقى الجمعان إنما استزلهم، الشيطان ببعض ما كسبوا ولقد عفا الله عنهم إن الله غفور حليم ٣: ١٥٥ [١] . - 51 . The text translates to: "The chapter on the Prophet's, peace be upon him, departure to Hamra al-Asad [1]. God the Almighty says, 'Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger after being struck by misfortune - for those who did good among them and feared Allah, is a great reward' 3:172 [2]."

باب غزوة بئر معونة [١] - 56 . Chapter on what the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, found about those who were killed at the well of Ma'una, his prayers for their killers, what God almighty revealed about them, and the evidence that emerged regarding 'Amir bin Fuhayra, may God be pleased with him.
باب ما وجد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على من قتل ببئر معونة ودعائه على قتلتهم وما أنزل الله عز وجل في شأنهم، وما ظهر من الآثار في عامر بن فهيرة رضي الله عنه. - 57 . "The chapter of the invasion of the Banu Nadir and God Almighty informing of His praise to His Messenger, peace be upon him, about what the Banu Nadir intended of deceit. Az-Zuhri, may God have mercy on him, believed that it took place before the battle of Uhud, while others believed that it occurred after it and after the incident at the well of Ma'una. The accounts have passed as aforementioned."
باب غزوة بني النضير وإخبار الله عز وجل ثناؤه رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم بما أراد به بنو النضير من المكر وكان الزهري رحمه الله يذهب إلى أنها كانت قبل أحد وذهب آخرون إلى أنها كانت بعده وبعد بئر معونة وقد مضت الأخبار في ذلك فيما تقدم [١] - 58 . The chapter on inviting Amro bin Saadi, the Jew, to Islam after the expulsion of Bani al-Nadir and his admission, and the admission of those Jews who acknowledged, of the characteristic of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in the Torah.
باب دعوة عمرو بن سعدى اليهودي إلى الإسلام بعد إجلاء بني النضير واعترافه واعتراف من اعترف من اليهود. بوجود صفة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في التوراة - 59 . The chapter of the invasion of Banu Lihyan, which is the expedition during which the fear prayer was performed at 'Usfan, when news was received from the sky regarding what the polytheists were plotting.
باب غزوة بني لحيان وهي الغزوة التي صلى فيها صلاة الخوف بعسفان حين أتاه الخبر من السماء بما هم به المشركون. - 60 . Chapter on the Battle of Dhat al-Riqa' [1] which is a battle with Khosafah [2] from the Banu Tha'laba tribe from Ghatafan.
باب غزوة ذات الرقاع [١] وهي غزوة محارب خصفة [٢] من بني ثعلبة من غطفان - 61 . "The Chapter on the Protection of Allah, the Almighty, for His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, concerning what Gharith bin Al-Harith feared about his killing, and how he performed the prayer in fear."

باب مجيء الأحزاب ونقض بني قريظة ما كان بينهم وبين رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم) من العهد والميثاق. - 72 . The chapter on the adversity faced by the Prophet, peace be upon him, and the Muslims due to the besiegement by the polytheists, and the intensity of distress that brought out the doubt and betrayal present in the hearts of some hypocrites. It became so intense that the Muslims had to forego their prescribed prayers to continue their fight, and some even went forth for individual combat. As the Prophet of Allah said, [continued].
باب ما أصاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والمسلمين من محاصرة المشركين إياهم من البلاء، والشدة حتى أظهر بعض المنافقين ما في قلوبهم من الريب والخيانة، وحتى شغل المسلمين قتالهم عن الصلاة المكتوبة، وخروج من خرج منهم إلى المبارزة، وقول رسول الله [صلى - 73 . The chapter of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, sending Hudhayfah ibn Al-Yaman, may Allah be pleased with him, to the pagans' camp and what he witnessed there as signs of prophecy, standing that night over what was sent to the pagans in terms of wind and troops, and Allah's confirmation of His Prophet', peace be upon him, statement about what He promised Hudhayfah.

باب دعاء النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على الأحزاب، وإجابة الله - عز وجل - إياه فيما دعاه - 75 . Chapter on the Prophet's saying, peace be upon him, after the departure of the factions: "Now we invade them and they do not invade us". And it was as he said.
باب قول النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بعد ذهاب الأحزاب: الآن نغزوهم ولا يغزونا فكان كما قال - 76 . The text translates to: The section on God's statement, may He be Exalted: Perhaps God will make friendship between you and those whom you consider your enemies 60:7 [1]. And the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, married Umm Habiba, the daughter of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb.
باب قول الله عز وجل: عسى الله أن يجعل بينكم وبين الذين عاديتم منهم مودة ٦٠: ٧ [١] وتزوج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بأم حبيبة بنت أبي سفيان بن حرب - 77 . Chapter on what was reported about the marriage of the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, to Umm Salama, the daughter of Abi Umayya bin Al Mughira bin Abdullah bin Amr bin Makhzum, and what appeared about his supplication for her response.
