Bab Islam Tha'labah, Usayd, Asad ibn Ubayd, and What that Includes of Prophetic Signs

Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Muqri al-Isfaraini informed us, saying: Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Yusuf ibn Ya'qub al-Qadi related to us. He said: Nasr ibn Ali told us that Wahb Ibn Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Aasim ibn Umar narrated to us from a sheikh of the Banu Qurayzah who said: A man came to us from Sham, a Jewish man known as Ibn al-Hayyaban. By Allah, we never saw a man better than him. He resided among us, and when rain was scarce, we would ask him to pray for rain. He would reply, "No, by Allah, until you give charity from what is in front of you." We would ask, "What should we give?" He would say, "A sa' of dates or a handful of grain." So, we would give as such, and he would take us out to the outskirts of our town. By Allah, he would not leave his gathering until streams flowed by us. He did this not once, not twice, until his death approached.

When he was about to pass away, he said: "O assembly of Jews, do you not see that it has brought me out from the land of bread and wine to the land of hardship and famine?" We asked him why, and he replied: "A Prophet I am expecting to be commissioned soon. This town will be his emigration place, and he will be sent for bloodshed and taking captives, so don't let this prevent you from him, and do not precede towards him. Then he passed away."

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, saying: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Abd al-Jabbar related to us, saying: Yunus narrated to us from Ibn...

Story of the Conversion of Tha'labah, Usaid ibn Sa'iyah, and Asad ibn 'Ubaid

Isaac said: Asim ibn 'Umar ibn Qatadah narrated to us from a sheikh of the Banu Quraizah that he said: "Do you know about the Islam of Tha'labah, Usaid ibn Sa'iyah, and Asad ibn 'Ubaid who were not from the Banu Quraizah nor from the Nadir, for they were even superior to that?" I said: "No." He said: "There came to us a man from Sham, from the Jews, known as Ibn al-Hayyiban. He mentioned the story in a way similar to the narration of Jarir, and added: 'On the night the Quraizah surrendered, he said: 'Those three young men, and they were youths, O people of the Jews, this is the one whom Ibn al-Hayyiban mentioned to you.' They said, 'Who is he?' He said, 'Yes, by Allah, he is the one, O people of the Jews. By Allah, he is the same as described.' Then they went out, embraced Islam, left their wealth, children, and families. Their wealth was in the fort with the polytheists. When that was conquered, it was returned to them."

Amr ibn Su'adah's Courage

It is mentioned that on that same night, according to Ibn Ishaq, 'Amru ibn Su'adah al-Quradhi passed by the guards of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and Muhammad ibn Maslamah was with them. When he saw him, 'Amru said: 'Who is this?' He replied: 'I am 'Amru ibn Su'adah.' 'Amru had refused to participate in the betrayal of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) by the Banu Quraizah, saying: 'I will never betray Muhammad.' When Muhammad ibn Maslamah recognized him, he prayed: 'O Allah, do not deprive me of the companionship of the noble.' Then 'Amru left and spent the night in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in Medina. Thereafter, it is not known where he went until now. His story was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), who said: 'That is a man whom Allah saved with his loyalty.'"

Divine Intervention

It is reported that 'Amru became a loyal companion of the Prophet and Allah's divine intervention was highlighted in the incident with the Banu Quraizah, signifying a turning point for the Muslims. The relevant verses about the incident are found in Surah Al-Ahzab, where the blessings and sufficiency of Allah are emphasized, dispelling negative thoughts and hypocritical attitudes towards the believers. The verse reads: "O you who have believed, remember the favor of Allah upon you when armies came to [attack] you, and We sent upon them a wind and armies [of angels]." (Quran 33:9)"
