Hadith of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh and Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah

It is reported that in their victory, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was heard in Makkah. Abu 'Abdullah Al-Hafiz narrated that Abu Ahmad Muhammad ibn Muhammad Al-Hafiz reported that Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated from Abu Al-Ash'ath that Hisham ibn Muhammad ibn As-Sa'ib Al-Kalbi reported from 'Abdul-Hameed ibn Abi 'Isa ibn Khayr who reported from his father, heard the Quraysh saying at night regarding Abu Quhafah: "If the two Sa'ds embrace Islam, Muhammad will reign in Makkah unopposed by the rival clans." They asked in the morning, "Who are the two Sa'ds: is it Sa'd ibn Bakr or Sa‘d [Hudhaym]?" On the second night, it was heard: "O Sa'd, the one from Aws, be the supporter, and O Sa'd from Khazraj, the Ghatafan, respond."

[The text is incomplete in certain manuscripts. The missing part spans two lines. It is noted in some manuscripts that the reference only said "Sa‘d Hudhaym" and the mention of "Sa'd ibn..." was absent. In other manuscripts, the names "Tameem" are mentioned. In Ar-Rawd Al-Anaf (1:272), it is explained that "the two Sa'ds" refer to Sa'd Hudhaym from Quda'ah and Sa'd ibn Zaid from Tameem tribe.]
