Heading: The Return of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Tabuk
Reported by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz, narrated by Abu Ja'far Al-Baghdadi, reported by Abu 'Ulatha Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn Khalid, narrated by my father, narrated by Ibn Lahi'ah, on the authority of Abu Al-Aswad, on the authority of Urwah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned from Tabuk back to Al-Madinah with his companions. Along the way, some of his companions conspired to harm him by throwing him in a valley. When they reached the valley, they intended to go through it with him. However, as the Prophet approached, those conspirators were informed about his presence. The Prophet said: "Whoever wishes to take the valley route, it is wider for you," and he took the valley himself. The people, except those who conspired against him, followed him except when they heard about it, they prepared themselves and covered themselves, for they had planned a great plan. The Prophet then ordered Hudhayfah ibn Al-Yaman and 'Ammaar ibn Yaasir to walk with him, and he commanded 'Ammaar to hold the reins of the camel and ordered Hudhayfah to drive it. While they were walking, they heard that the people behind them had been deceived. This made the Prophet angry, and he ordered Hudhayfah to turn them back.

Incident Involving Hudhayfah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Upon Hudhayfah's anger, the Prophet (PBUH) returned with a stick in his hand and faced his companions. He struck the stick forcefully, surprising the covered faces, who mistook him for a traveler. Their fear increased upon recognizing Hudhayfah, thinking their deceit was exposed. They hurried to mingle with the crowd, and Hudhayfah caught up with the Prophet (PBUH). Upon meeting him, the Prophet (PBUH) instructed Hudhayfah to strike the camel and told 'Ammar to walk with them. As they hastened, they reached the top and emerged from the valley to await the people.
Conversation Between Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Hudhayfah
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked Hudhayfah if he recognized any of the people on the journey. Hudhayfah named two individuals, describing the darkness of night that veiled their identities. The Prophet (PBUH) informed them about the group's intention to deceive and throw him off the cliff in the dark. When asked why he didn't retaliate, the Prophet (PBUH) refused, fearing malicious rumors about his companions. He instructed them to remain silent.
Narration and Source
Historians relay this incident, emphasizing the strategic wisdom employed against potential threats. The Prophet's (PBUH) vigilance and Hudhayfah's quick actions averted danger, showcasing the importance of trust and discernment among companions.

The Morning Gathering
The narrator informed me of their names and the names of their fathers, and I will inform you about them if Allah wills at the break of dawn. So go ahead when you wake up and gather them. When morning came, he said, "Call 'Abdullah,' I think he is the son of Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh, originally 'Abdullah ibn Ubay, and Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh, unless Ibn Ishaq mentioned before this that ibn Ubay fell behind in the Tabuk expedition, and I do not know how that happened... Ibn Ishaq said: And Aba Hadir, the Bedouin Arab, 'Amir, and Abu 'Amir, while sitting Ibn Suyaid ibn al-Samit, who said, 'We will not stop until we throw Muhammad from Al-Aqabah tonight, even if Muhammad and his companions are better than us, then we are the losers and he is the shepherd, and we have no wisdom, and he is the wise one.' He ordered him to call Mujammia ibn Jariyah and Filih al-Taymi, who stole the gift of the Kaaba, and apostatized from Islam, then fled the land, no one knows where he went, and ordered him to call Husayn ibn Numayr who raided the dates of charity, stole them, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "What led you to this?" He said, "It led me to it that I thought that Allah did not inform you of it. But when Allah informed you of it and you knew it, then I bear witness today that you are the Messenger of Allah, and I have never believed in you before today with certainty." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forgave him for his stumbling and pardoned him with what he said. He ordered him to call Tu'mah ibn Ubayriq and 'Abdullah ibn 'Uyaynah, who said to his companions, "Bear witness tonight that you have surrendered all your lives, by Allah, you have no option but to kill this man," so the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, called him and said, "What good would it do to you if I were killed?" The enemy of Allah said, "O Prophet of Allah! By Allah, you will always remain in goodness as long as Allah gives you victory over your enemies. Indeed, we are with Allah and with you." So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, left him.

Story of Hypocrites Among the Companions
Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) called upon Hudhayfah and urged him to make mention of Murah ibn Rab'ee, the man who raised his hand against Abdullah ibn Abi, threatening him. Murah then spoke ominous words, indicating a future time when they will kill individuals without repercussions, shedding light on a group of hypocrites plotting against the Prophet and their subsequent divine punishment. The Prophet, aware of their treachery, confronted the twelve hypocrites, who conspired against Islam, and revealed their intentions and secrets. By Allah's will, these hypocrites were eliminated, fulfilling the Quranic verse "and they conspired and Allah [also] plotted, and Allah is the best of plotters" [The Qur'an, Surah Al-Anfal, 8:30].
Abu 'Ammar, the Hypocrite Leader
Among the twelve hypocrites was Abu 'Ammar, nicknamed Al-Rahib (the Monk), who was in charge of Masjid Al-Dirar. He was termed by the Prophet as a "transgressor" and was later identified as Abu Hanthalah, considered unclean by the angels. Their plan to establish the Mosque Al-Dirar for nefarious purposes failed, leading to its destruction and their demise.
Return from Tabuk
While returning from Tabuk, the Prophet stopped at Dhi Awan, where the people of Masjid Al-Dirar, who were preparing to harm him, had reached him. However, they could not execute their evil plan due to divine intervention, as the Prophet intended only goodwill towards them.

Building the Mosque of Thul-al-'Illa, Haajah, Laylat al-Matreerah, and Ash-Shatee'ah
We constructed a mosque for Thul-al-'Illa, Haajah, Laylat al-Matreerah, and Ash-Shatee'ah. We would love for you to come and pray in it. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am currently on a journey. If we return, Allah willing, we will come to you and pray in it." When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, arrived at Dhi Awān, news from the heavens came to him. He summoned Mālik ibn ad-Dukhshum and Ma'n ibn 'Adi, who was the brother of 'Āsim ibn 'Adi, and instructed them to go to the mosque of the oppressors and destroy and burn it. They swiftly went there, entered while its people were inside, set it on fire, demolished it, and dispersed from that place. Verses from the Quran were revealed about it. Ibn Ishāq mentioned the names of those who had built it, including Tha'labah ibn Hātib.
Narration by Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān
Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān narrated: "I used to hold the camel of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while 'Ammār was driving it or I was driving it while 'Ammār was leading it. When we reached al-'Aqabah, I was one of twelve riders." Ibn Ishāq further elaborated on the individuals who built the mosque, mentioning that there were twelve men, including Khaḍ'ām ibn Khālid from the descendants of 'Ubayd ibn Zayd, one of Banu 'Āmir ibn 'Awf; and also a description of the mosque's demolition.

Incident with the Hypocrites
They confronted him during this incident, and he said: I informed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about them, so he shouted at them and they turned away. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to us: Did you recognize the people? We said: No, O Messenger of Allah! They wore masks, but we recognized their mounts. He said: These are the hypocrites until the Day of Judgment. Do you know what they intended? We said: No. He said: They intended to try to corner the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) at the narrow pass and throw him down from it. We said: O Messenger of Allah, should you not send messengers to their tribes, so that every people sends back their chief to you? He said: No! I dislike the Arabs saying: Muhammad fought with his people, and when Allah shows him against them, he turns against and kills them. Then he said: O Allah, strike them with dubeilah! We said: O Messenger of Allah, what is dubeilah? He said: It is a flaming fire bolt that falls on the arteries of the hearts of some of them and kills them.
Reporting Chain:
- Abu al-Husayn ibn Bishran informed us, Abu Ja'far al-Razaz (may Allah be pleased with him).
- Abu Ali, Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Rudhbary, informed us, Abu al-Abbas, Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Hammad al-Askari in Baghdad.
Narrators:
- Ahmad ibn al-Walid al-Fahham informed us, Shadhan reported to us, Shu'ba narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Abu Nadrah, from Qays ibn 'Ubad, who said: I asked 'Ammar: What is your opinion on this action of yours in the matter concerning Ali? Have you seen something he entrusted specifically to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did not entrust us with anything he did not entrust to all people in general. However, Hudhayfah informed me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Among my companions, there are twelve hypocrites. Eight of them will not enter Paradise until a camel enters into the eye of a needle."

Hadith Narrated by Muslim in Sahih:
It was narrated by Muslim in Sahih, from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, from Al-Aswad ibn 'Amir, who said: Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us, saying: Abu Al-Fadl ibn Ibrahim told us that Ahmad ibn Salamah narrated to us that Muhammad ibn Bashshar informed us that Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us that Shu'bah said: I heard Qatadah narrating from Abu Nadrah, from Qays ibn 'Ubād, who said: We said to 'Ammaar ibn Yasir: What do you think of this fighting that you have witnessed? Indeed, opinion can be right or wrong. Is it based on an agreement made by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) exclusively to you, which he did not make with others? The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "In my Ummah..." and Shu'bah said: I think he said, narrated to me Hudaifah, that he said: "In any community of mine, there are twelve hypocrites who will not enter Paradise nor smell its fragrance until a camel enters through the eye of a needle. Eight of them will have a covering of hellfire around them that will appear from between their shoulders." It was narrated by Muslim in Sahih from Muhammad ibn Bashshar.
Witnessing of Hudhayfah:
And it was narrated from Hudhayfah that there were fourteen or fifteen of them (hypocrites), and I bear witness by Allah that twelve of them waged war against Allah and His Messenger in this worldly life and on the Day of Resurrection. And three excused themselves, saying: We did not hear the caller, nor did we know what the people intended.
Hadith on Hypocrites:
The hadith on hypocrites who built a mosque is mentioned in Sahih Muslim in the Book of the Characteristics of Hypocrites and Their Rulings, Hadith no. 9, page 2143, narrated from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah.
Additional information from other sources can also be found in the same narration.

Building a Mosque Upon Piety
There were people from the Ansar known as Dharar who built a mosque. Abu 'Amir said to them: "Build your mosque and gather whatever strength and weapons you can, for I am heading to Caesar, the Roman king, to bring a Roman army. Then I will expel Muhammad and his companions." When they completed their mosque, they came to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and said: "We have finished building our mosque and would like you to pray and bless it." Allah revealed: "Never stand [to pray] therein. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in." This refers to Quba Mosque, where there are men who love to purify themselves, as indicated by the verse: "A mosque which was founded upon righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves. And Allah loves those who purify themselves."
Abu 'Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated that Abu al-Fadl ibn Ibrahim reported to them from Ahmad ibn Salamah, who narrated from Muhammad ibn Bashshar, who narrated from Yahya ibn Sa'id, who narrated from Humayd al-Kharrat, who narrated from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, who said: "Abd al-Rahman ibn Abu Sa'id al-Khudri passed by me, and I asked him how he heard his father talk about the mosque built upon piety. He said: 'My father said: I visited the Messenger of Allah and entered a house of one of his wives. I asked: O Messenger of Allah, which of the two mosques was founded upon piety? He took a handful of pebbles, threw them on the ground, and said: This is your mosque.' I said: I heard my father mention this."

Hadith about the Mosque of the Prophet (PBUH)
It was narrated by Muslim in Sahih that Muhammad ibn Hatim reported from Yahya, who narrated from Hatim ibn Isma'il, who narrated from Humaid, who narrated from Abu Salama, who narrated from Abu Sa'id: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about the mosque established on Taqwa. He said: 'It is my mosque here.' This hadith has been passed down in connection with the mosque in Madinah."
Additional Narrations
Abu al-Husayn ibn Bishran al-'Adl in Baghdad reported from Abu Ahmad Hamzah ibn Muhammad Ibn al-'Abbas who reported from Ibrahim ibn 'Abd al-Rahim ibn Danuqa who reported from Zakariya ibn 'Adi, who reported from Hatim, who reported from Humaid ibn Sakhr, who reported from Abu Salama, who reported from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, saying: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about the mosque established on Taqwa, and he said: 'It is the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).'"
Usamah ibn Zayd narrated from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'id al-Khudri, who reported from his father, saying: "The mosque established on Taqwa is the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)." This narration was also reported by Abu 'Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq, through various chains of transmission.
The narrations emphasize that the mosque established on Taqwa is indeed the mosque of the Prophet (PBUH).
