Chapter on the Supplication of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Response to Sorcery

Narrated by Abu Tahir al-Faqih and Abu al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Shadhiakh, they said: "Others informed us, Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub reported to us, who narrated from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam, who narrated from Anas ibn Ayyad, from Hisham ibn Uruwah, from his father, from Aisha that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was afflicted with magic to the extent that it seemed to him that he had done something when he had not. He supplicated to his Lord and said: 'I feel as if Allah has informed me about what I sought His guidance for.' Aisha asked: 'What is it, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Two men came to me; one sat near my head and the other near my feet. One asked the other, 'What has happened to this man?' The other replied, 'He is under a spell.' The first asked, 'Who cast the spell?' The other said, 'Labid ibn al-A'sam.' The first asked, 'What was it done with?' He replied, 'With a comb, the hair stuck to it, and the skin of a male date-palm offshoot.' The first asked, 'Where is it?' He replied, 'In Dharwan, and Dharwan is a well in the land of Bani Zuraiq.' Aisha said: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to me and then returned and said, 'By Allah, it seems as if its water is like the infusion of Henna leaves, and its date-palms look like the heads of devils.' I said to him, 'O Messenger of Allah! Will you not remove it?' He said, 'Allah has healed me, but he dislikes exposing people to its evil.''' Reported by Bukhari in his authentic collection through Ibrahim ibn al-Mundhir, from Anas ibn Ayyad, and they also narrated it from other chains through Hisham ibn Uruwah.

The Prophet’s Illness and the Revelation of Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas

Abu Sa’eed reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) fell severely ill, and two angels came to him. One sat at his head and the other at his feet. The angel at his feet asked the one at his head what he saw, and the latter replied, "A cure." The angel asked, "What is the cure?" and he answered, "It is a spell." The angel inquired, "Who cast this spell?" The response was, "Labid ibn A'sam, a Jewish man." He asked, "Where is he?" and was told, "In the well of so-and-so, under a rock in Rakiyah. Go to Rakiyah, remove its water, lift the rock, and take out the object there and burn it."

The next morning, the Prophet (ﷺ) sent ‘Ammaar ibn Yaasir and a group of people to the mentioned location. They found the water resembling the color of henna, so they removed the water, lifted the rock, took out the object, and burned it. They found inside it eleven knots. At that time, Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas were revealed, and whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) recited a verse, one knot would loosen: “Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak,' and [in] 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.'”

It is important to rely on the first narration.
