Chapter on the Blessing that Appeared in the Sheep Bought from the Bedouin

It was narrated to us by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz, who narrated to us Abu Abdullah Ibn Ya'qub, who narrated to us Ahmad Ibn An-Nadr Ibn Abdul Wahhab, who narrated to us Ubaydullah Ibn Mu'adh, who narrated to us Al-Mu'tamir Ibn Sulaiman, from my father, from Abu Uthman, who also narrated from Abdur-Rahman Ibn Abu Bakr, who said: "We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) numbering three hundred and thirty. The Prophet then asked, 'Does anyone of you have any food?' One of them had a saa' (measure) of food or the like, so it was kneaded. Then a man named Mush'an, a tall man, came with a sheep that he was herding. The Prophet asked, 'Will you sell it or give it as a gift?' He replied, 'No, I will sell it.' So, he bought a sheep from him and commanded that it be slaughtered. He ordered that the fatty part of its belly be roasted. By Allah, there was not a single person among the three hundred and thirty except that the Prophet had allotted him some of the roasted fatty part. If he was present, he was given his share, and if he was absent, his share was set aside. The Prophet placed two plates in which we all ate and became satisfied, and there were leftovers in the two plates. They were placed on a camel or something similar."

Note: (1) Mush'an: a man with disheveled hair. (2) The fatty part of the belly.
