Chapter on the Miracles that Appeared on Abu Umamah when the Prophet Sent Him to His People

Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me, I think he said, to his family. I came to them while they were eating - meaning they were eating blood in a bowl - and they said to me, "Eat." I said, "I prohibit you from eating this food while I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to you." They accused me of lying and pushed me away. So, I left them hungry and thirsty. I was very exhausted, so I fell asleep and in my dream, I was given a sip of milk, and I drank until I was full and satisfied. My stomach became full. The people said, "A man from your nobles and elites has come to you, but you rejected and expelled him. Go to him and feed him with whatever food and drink he desires." They brought me food. I said, "I have no need for your food and drink, for Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, has fed me and given me drink. Look at my condition. Believe in me and in what I have brought to you from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him."

It is narrated by Sadqah ibn Hurmuz from Abu Ghalib with a similar meaning, and at the end, he said: "I said, 'Indeed, Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, fed me and gave me drink, so they saw how my stomach was and they submitted one after the other."

The Story of the Prophet's Mission to His People

Abu 'Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'diq Al-'Attar informed us, saying: Abu Al-'Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, who was narrated from Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd Allah ibn Al-Munadi, who was narrated from Yunus ibn Muhammad Al-Muaddib, who narrated from Sadaqah ibn Hurmuz, from Abu Ghaleb, from Abu Umamah, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent me to my people. I arrived among them while they were eating flesh with blood. They called me to join them, and I said: 'I have come to forbid you from this.' They scoffed at me, and I exerted myself. I heard them saying to each other: 'A man from your people's clan has arrived, so you have no choice but to feed him, even just a little.' I rested my head and dozed off, then a man came to me with a vessel, and I took it and drank. I woke up, feeling that my stomach was filled. They handed me another vessel, saying: 'Take it.' I replied: 'I do not need it.' They insisted, saying: 'We have witnessed your effort.' I said: 'Indeed, Allah, Almighty and Exalted, fed me and gave me water to drink.' I showed them my filled stomach, and they accepted Islam one after another."

Al-Hakim recorded this narration in Al-Mustadrak. Al-Dhahabi mentioned that Sadaqah was weak according to Ibn Ma'een, and Al-Haythami in "Majma' Al-Zawa'id" narrated the same hadith and commented on its authenticity.
