Bab Ma Ja'a Fi Taflhi Fi Jirahati Khubayb Ibn Isaf

Abu Abdullah al-Rahman al-Sulami informed us, Ismail ibn Abdullah al-Mikali informed us, Ali ibn Saeed al-Askari informed us, Abu Umayyah Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Khallad al-Wasiti informed us, Yazid ibn Harun informed us, Al-Mustalim Abu Saeed informed us, that Khubayb ibn Abdullah ibn Khubayb narrated from his father, from his grandfather, who said:

"I came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, along with a man from my people, during one of his expeditions. We said, 'We desire to witness with you.' He asked, 'Have you embraced Islam?' We said, 'No.' He replied, 'We do not seek help from the polytheists against the polytheists.' He then said, 'So I embraced Islam and witnessed with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. I was struck on my shoulder, and my hand got paralyzed. I went to the Prophet, peace be upon him, who then spat on it and stuck it. It immediately healed. I then killed the man who had struck me, and later on, I married the daughter of the man I had killed. She used to say, 'May Allah bless a man who donned this garment.' I used to reply, 'May you not lack a man who hastens your father to the Hellfire.'"

[1] Khubayb ibn Isaf witnessed the Battle of Badr. Al-Waqidi mentioned, "His Islam was delayed until he met the Prophet, peace be upon him, on his way to Badr and then embraced Islam. He witnessed the battle of Badr and those that followed, and he died during the caliphate of Umar.
