Chapter on Supplication for a Couple where one Spouses Dislikes the Other with Kindness and Allah's Response to their Supplication

It was narrated to us by Abu 'Abdullah Al-Haafiz, who narrated to us Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah Al-Asbahani, that Abu Isma'il Al-Tirmidhi narrated to us Muhammad ibn Isma'il, who narrated to us 'Abdul-'Aziz ibn 'Abdullah Al-Uwaisi, who said: Ali ibn Abi Ali narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Abdur-Rahman ibn Abi Dhi'b, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went out and 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab was with him. A woman approached and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I am a Muslim woman who is prohibited for my husband, and I have this man in my house like a woman." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: "Supplicate to reconcile with your husband." So she supplicated and her husband was a weaver. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said: "What does your wife say, O 'Abdullah?" The man said: "By the One who honored you, she has not ceased praising me." His wife then said: "It was only once."

Important Note

This narration contains a chain of transmission with Ali ibn Abi Ali, who is considered unreliable due to his connection to Ibn Al-Munkadir. Therefore, scholars like Al-Bukhari, Ahmad, Abu Hatim, An-Nasa'i, and Ibn Ma'een have criticized this chain and deemed it weak for citation.

Prophet Muhammad's Kindness towards a Married Couple

During a conversation, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a woman if she hated her husband. She confirmed, to which the Prophet instructed them to come closer to each other. He then placed the woman's forehead against her husband's, prayed for unity and mutual love between them, and went on his way to the market, accompanied by Umar ibn Al-Khattab. As the woman carried items on her head, she saw the Prophet and approached him, kissed his feet, and expressed her deep love for her husband. The Prophet then asked about the well-being of both her and her husband, to which she responded with sincere affection and devotion to her spouse. Prophet Muhammad and Umar ibn Al-Khattab bore witness to her love and faithfulness. Ali ibn Abi Talib is mentioned as a unique narrator of this story, known for his numerous authentic narrations.

Source: The Tradition of Ali ibn Abi Talib, with a vast collection of authentic narrations, recounted by Yusuf ibn Muhammad ibn Al-Munkadir, through his father, from Jabir ibn Abdullah. However, Umar ibn Al-Khattab is not mentioned in this particular narration.
