Chapter on the People Who Could Not Satisfy Their Hunger

The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, instructed them to gather for a meal and invoke the name of Allah over it. They did so and they were satisfied.

It was narrated to us by Abu Ali al-Rudhbary, who narrated from Abu Bakr ibn Dasa, who narrated from Abu Dawud, who narrated from Ibrahim ibn Musa al-Razi, who narrated from Al-Walid ibn Muslim, who narrated from Wahshi ibn Harb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "O Messenger of Allah! We eat but do not feel satisfied." He said, "Perhaps you eat separately?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Then gather together for your meal, and mention the name of Allah over it, as He will bless you in it."

(Narrated in "Musnad Ahmad" [3:501])
