Chapter on the Account of Abu Bakr's Truthfulness in his Faith and His Testimony for Umar and Uthman

In a narration concerning Abu Bakr's truthfulness in his faith and his testimony for Umar and Uthman, they testified after him as reported, along with his commanding the mountain to be steadfast after the earthquake and striking it with his foot until it settled. Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Saeed ibn Abi Amr told us that Abu Abbas Muhammed ibn Ya'qub informed us, who narrated from Ahmed ibn Yunus Ad-Dabbi, who narrated from Makki ibn Ibrahim Al-Balkhi and Ru'h ibn Ubada that they said Sa'eed ibn Abi Arubah narrated from Qatadah from Anas who said: "The Prophet, peace be upon him, ascended Uhud, and Ru'h said: Hera' or Uhud, accompanied by Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, then it shook with them." Makki stated: "The Prophet, peace be upon him, struck it with his foot and said: 'Be steadfast, for upon you is a Prophet, a truthful, and two martyrs.' This was recorded by Al-Bukhari in Sahih from the hadith of Yazid ibn Zurai and others from Ibn Abi Arubah, and they said Uhud, as Makki mentioned."

Al-Bukhari also included this narration in Fada'il As-Sahabah in the chapter on the virtues of Abu Bakr, Hadith no. 3675, in Fath Al-Bari (7:22) from Muhammed ibn Bashshar, and repeated it in the virtues of Umar, Hadith no. 3686, in Fath Al-Bari (7:42) from Musaddad, who narrated it from Yazid ibn Zurai, from Sa'eed, from Qatadah, from Anas, and then repeated it in the virtues of Uthman, Hadith no. 3699, in Fath Al-Bari (7:53) from Musaddad.

At-Tirmidhi also recorded this in Kitab Al-Manaqib in the chapter on the virtues of Uthman ibn Affan, Hadith no. 3697, from Muhammed ibn Bashshar, from Yahya ibn Sa'eed, from Sa'eed, from Qatadah, from Anas. Additionally, Abu Dawood included it in As-Sunnah, no. 4651, from Musaddad, from Yazid.

Imam Ahmad included it in his Musnad (5:331, 346).

The Miraculous Healing of Hira Cave

Abu Al-Husayn Bin Bishran informed us, who was informed by Ismail Bin Muhammad Al-Saffar, who narrated to us through Ahmad Bin Mansur, who was informed by Abdul Razzaq, who narrated from Ma'mar, from Abu Hazim, from Sahl Bin Sa'd Al-Saa'idi that Hira Cave trembled while the Prophet Muhammad, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman were there. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: "Remain firm, for you are being visited by a Prophet, a truthful man, and two martyrs."

Ma'mar mentioned: "I also heard Qatadah narrating a similar hadith from the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him."

The narration about the Hira Cave incident can be found in Sunan Abu Dawood under the book of Sunnah, as part of a longer hadith (4648, 4:211). Imam Al-Tirmidhi also documented it in the book of Al-Manaqib, (3757, 5:651), and remarked: "This is a good and authentic hadith."
