Chapter on the Report of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, regarding the Sufficiency from Allah for His Servants against the Evil of al-Aswad al-Ansi and Musaylimah the Liar

It was narrated to us by Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafiz, who narrated to me Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, who told us Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Muslim, who narrated to us Sulaiman ibn Sayf who narrated to us Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim ibn Sa'd, who narrated to us from my father, from Salih ibn Kayan, from Ibn 'Ubaidah ibn Nashit, and it is also said: his name is Abdullah ibn Abdullah, that Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah ibn 'Utbah informed us:

"It reached us that Musaylimah the Liar came to al-Madinah and stayed in the house of the daughter of al-Harith. Her son was Ibn al-Harith ibn Kurayz, and she was the mother of Abd Allah ibn 'Amir. So the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, came to him with Thabit ibn Qays ibn al-Shammas, known as the orator of the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, had a stick in his hand and he stood with it and spoke to him."

Musaylimah said to him, "If you wish, you can leave the matter between us and let me deal with it after you." The Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, said, "If you were to ask me for this stick, I would not give it to you. Indeed, I see you as I was shown you. And this is Thabit ibn Qays and he will answer you on my behalf." So the Prophet, peace be upon him, departed.

Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah said, "I asked Abdullah ibn Abbas about the dream of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, which he had mentioned. Ibn Abbas told me that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'While I was asleep, I saw that two golden bracelets were placed in my hands, I disliked them and threw them away. Permission was then granted to me, so I blew on them and they flew away. I interpreted them as the two liars.' One of them was al-Ansi, who was killed by Firuz in Yemen, and the other was Musaylimah."
