Chapter on the Supplication of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for the Hosts on Light Cheese and the Manifestations of Prophethood Therein

Abu Huraira reported: By Him in whose hand my soul is, I would rely on the liver on the earth out of hunger, and I would clasp a stone to my stomach due to hunger, and I once sat on their route through which they pass. Abu Bakr passed by me, and I asked him about a verse in the Book of Allah. I asked him only to make him sit with me, but he passed by without stopping. Then 'Umar passed by me, and I asked him about a verse from the Book of Allah. I asked him only to make him sit with me, but he passed by without stopping. Then Abu Al-Qasim, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, passed by me. He smiled when he saw me, and he knew what was in my soul and what was on my face. Then he said: O Abu Hir! I said: Verily, here I am at your service, Messenger of Allah. He said: That is true, and he went on. So I followed him, and he entered (his house), and I sought permission to enter, and permission was granted to me. So I entered, and I found some milk in a bowl. He said: Where is this milk from? They said: It was given by such and such person as a gift to you. He said: O Abu Hir! I said: Here I am, Messenger of Allah. He said: Right, for the people of virtue, so invite them for me. He said: The people of virtue are the guests of Islam; they do not shelter with a people or money. When charity comes to them, they respond. (Narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari: "They should fill me up.")

The Story of Offering Milk to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Abu Hir reported: “When I would receive a gift, I would send some of it to the Prophet (PBUH), but I never took any of it. One day, a gift came to me, so I sent it to the Prophet (PBUH) and he partook of it and offered it to others as well. This displeased me. I said: 'What is this milk for the righteous people? I hoped I would benefit from this milk by drinking it and gaining strength from it. I am a messenger, so when they came, they ordered me to give it to them. I thought it unlikely that I would taste any of this milk. Obedience to Allah and His Messenger was obligatory, so I went and invited them. They entered and asked permission which I granted. They took their seats, and the Prophet (PBUH) said: 'O Abu Hir!' I replied: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Take it and give it to them.' I took the cup and took it to the man who drank from it until he was satisfied. Then he returned the cup to me, and I gave it to another who did the same until all the people had drank from it. Finally, the cup reached the Prophet (PBUH) who took it, placed it in his hand, and smiled at me. He said: 'O Abu Hir!' I replied: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'You and I are the only ones left.' I said: 'You are right, O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'Sit and drink.' So, I sat and drank as he instructed me. He kept saying, 'Drink,' and I kept drinking until I said: 'By Him who has sent you with the truth, I don't find any more room for it!' He then said: 'Show me,' so I handed him the cup. He praised Allah, mentioned His name, and drank the remaining milk.” This hadith is narrated by Imam al-Bukhari in his Sahih through Abu Nu`aym.
