Chapter of the Hadith of the Miraculous Spring
In this chapter, we delve into the signs of prophethood and the indications of truth that have been manifested through the story of the miraculous spring. The following hadith has been narrated by Sulaiman ibn al-Mughirah, from Thabit, from Abdullah ibn Rabah, from Abu Qatadah. Muslim has also reported it in Sahih. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Bishran al-Adl in Baghdad informed us that Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Amr ibn al-Bakhtari al-Razzaz narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Yazid informed us, who was told by Yazid ibn Harun, who narrated from Hammad ibn Salamah, who narrated from Thabit, who narrated from Abdullah ibn Rabah, who narrated from Abu Qatadah, who said:
We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey. He said, "If you do not reach the water, you will thirst." Then the people rushed on in haste seeking water. The Messenger of Allah stayed back that night with his she-camel and leaned over. The Messenger of Allah started dozing off, so I supported him and he leaned over, but then I supported him again and he leaned over, and this continued until he almost fell from his she-camel. So I supported him, and he woke up and asked, "Who is the man?" I replied, "Abu Qatadah." He said, "May Allah bless you for the way you supported the Messenger of Allah." Then he said, "If we were to make an advance." He then moved towards a tree, descended and said, "Do you see anyone?" I said, "This is a rider, this is a rider," until they reached seven in number. He said, "Remember our prayer to us." We slept until the heat of the sun awoke us, so we woke up, the Messenger of Allah mounted and set off, we followed for a while, and then he descended and asked, "Do you have water?" I answered, "Yes, a mirage with a little water." He said, "Bring it to me," so I brought it to him. He said, "Pour it out," and the people performed ablution from it. There was still some left in the water-skin and he said, "Water it, O Abu Qatadah, for it will have some value later." Then Bilal called the Adhan and he prayed.

Pre-Dawn and Dawn Prayers
Before dawn, he performed two rak'ahs, then prayed dawn prayer. After that, he mounted, and we mounted too. Some said to each other: "We lacked in our prayers." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What are you saying? If it pertains to your worldly affairs, then it is your concern, but if it pertains to your religion, then it is for me." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, we lacked in our prayers." He said: "Do not lack in your sleep, for the lack is in wakefulness. So, if that happens, perform it from tomorrow at its time." Then he said: "Think well of the people." We said: "But yesterday, you said if you do not find water tomorrow, you should do tayammum, and the people went and found water." Then he said: "The people have started their day losing their Prophet." Some of them said: "The Messenger of Allah is with the water and among the people are Abu Bakr and Umar." They said: "O people! The Messenger of Allah would never precede you to water and leave you behind. If the people follow Abu Bakr and Umar, they will be guided." He repeated this thrice. When it became midday, the Messenger of Allah raised his hands and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are perishing, dying of thirst, our necks are about to sever." He said: "There is no destruction upon you today." Then he said: "O Abu Qatadah, bring me the vessel." I brought it to him. He said: "Tie my waist, meaning his garment. I untied it and brought it to him. He began pouring in it, and giving the people to drink. The Messenger of Allah said: "Behave well in assemblies. Each one of you will be coming out of a vein." The people drank until only I was left, and the Messenger of Allah poured for me. He said: "Drink, O Abu Qatadah." I said: "You drink, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "The one who serves the people will be the last to drink." So, I drank, and he drank after me, and there was still some water left in the vessel, whereas they were about three hundred on that day. Abdullah said: "Imran bin Husayn heard me narrate this hadith in the mosque and asked: 'Who is this man?' I said: 'I am Abdullah bin Rabah, the Ansari,' and he said: 'The people are more aware of their traditions. See how you narrate, for I am one of the seven from tonight." When I finished, he said: "I wish no one other than me guards this hadith."

Hadith about the Prophet's Preparation for Battle
Hamad said: Narrated to us Humaid ibn Bakr ibn Abdullah, from Abdullah ibn Rabah, from Abu Qatadah, who narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: When the Messenger of Allah used to spend his wedding night, he would lie down on his right side. And when he got up close to dawn, he would place his head on his right palm and sit up.
Hadith about the Water Between the Muslims and Polytheists
Abu Sa'dal-Malini informed us, that Abu Ahmad Abdullah ibn Adi al-Hafiz told us, that Abu Yala informed us, that Anas ibn Malik said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) prepared an army to face the polytheists, with Abu Bakr among them. He said to them, "Find the water, as between you and the polytheists there is a water source. If the polytheists reach that water before you, they will take exclusive control of it, causing you and your animals to suffer from severe thirst." He mentioned the hadith, and our Sheikh Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz completed the hadith, narrating from Abu Muhammad al-Muzani, from Abu Yala with this chain of transmission. Anas reported that the Prophet left behind eight companions while I was ninth among them. He said to his companions, "Shall we have a little sleep and then catch up with the others?" They replied, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' So they slept, and none of them woke up except due to the intense heat of the sun. The Prophet (peace be upon him) woke up and woke his companions, saying, "Move ahead and relieve yourselves." After they did so, they returned to the Prophet (peace be upon him), who asked, "Does anyone of you have water?" A man among them said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have a small container containing some water." So the container was brought to the Prophet, who wiped it with his right hand, sought blessings in it, and then told his companions, "Come and perform ablution." They obeyed and performed ablution, and a man among them called the adhan and led the prayer while the Prophet poured water for them to perform ablution.

The Prophet's Compassion and Divine Intervention
There is a story where the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, encountered a group of people and asked his companions, "What do you think these people have done?" They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet then pointed out that among them were Abu Bakr and Umar, who would guide the people. The pagans had reached a water source first, causing severe thirst for both their livestock and themselves. The Prophet inquired about a particular water container and had it brought to him. He then invited the people to drink, pouring water for everyone until all were satisfied, along with their animals, filling every container available. Following this, the Prophet and his companions faced the pagans in battle. Allah sent a wind that struck the faces of the pagans and granted victory to the Muslims, causing many pagans to be killed, taken captive, and vast amounts of spoils to be seized. The Prophet and his followers returned triumphant and in goodness.
