Bab Ma Ja'a Fi Nafthihi Fi Kaffi Shurahbeel al-Ju'fiy

It was narrated to us by Abu Bakr al-Farisi, who was informed by Abu Ishaq al-Asbahani, who was told by Abu Ahmad ibn Faris, who narrated to us Muhammad ibn Isma'il, who said: Ali narrated to me, who was told by Yunus ibn Muhammad al-Muaddib, who narrated to us Hammad ibn Zaid, who narrated to us Mukhlad ibn Uqbah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Shurahbeel al-Ju'fiy, from his grandfather Abdul Rahman, from his father, who said: "I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with some goods in my hand. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, these goods have caused me harm preventing me from holding onto the reins of my riding animal when drawing near to the enemy combatant.' He said: 'Come close to me,' and when I did he said: 'Open your hand,' so I did. He said: 'Close it,' and I did. He then said: 'Come close to me,' and when I did he said: 'Open it,' so I did. He then blew into my hand, placed his own hand on the goods, and continued rubbing them with his hand until he lifted his hand off, leaving no trace of harm. I read in the book of al-Waqidi that Abu Sabrah said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have a harmful thing on the back of my hand which prevents me from holding the reins of my riding animal.' So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took a vessel and struck his hand with it on the goods and wiped it, and the harm disappeared. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, made dua for him and his children, one of whom was called Sabrah and the other Azziz. He named him Abdul Rahman, and he was Abu Khaythamah ibn Abd al-Rahman."

Translation of Classical Arabic Text

Source: I read in the book of Muhammad ibn Sa'd, from al-Humaydi, from Farah ibn Sa'id al-Waqidi, from his uncle Thabit ibn Sa'id, from his father, from his grandfather Abu Haydah ibn Hammal, that there was a wound on his face, meaning smallpox, and his face had already started to scab. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was called, and he wiped his face but did not touch the scabs. That was on that day, and from it there remained a trace. (additional information from the source marked with letter h).
