Bab (Chapter) on the Healing Touch of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Hand of Muhammad ibn Hatib

It was narrated by Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Furak, may Allah have mercy on him, who informed us that Abu Abdillah ibn Ja'far told us, who narrated from Yunus ibn Habib, who narrated from Abu Dawud, who narrated from Shu'bah, from Simak ibn Harb, who said: "I heard Muhammad ibn Hatib saying: 'The pot fell on my hands, causing burns, and my mother took me to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He would spit on me and say, 'O Lord of the people, take away the harm, and heal, for You are the Healer.'"

It was also narrated by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Bakr Ibn Ishaq, who stated that Abu Abdullah ibn Ya'qub informed them, who narrated from Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab, who narrated from Ja'far ibn Awn, who narrated from Mis'ar, from Simak, who said: "My mother made a concoction and poured it on my hands. She took me to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said something I did not memorize. I asked her about it during the reign of Uthman, and she said: 'He said, 'O Lord of the people, take away the harm. You are the Healer. There is no healer but You.'' "

Translation of Classical Arabic Text

Informed us Al-Asbahani, Muhammad ibn Sulaiman [ibn Faris], narrated to us Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari, narrated to us Said ibn Sulaiman, narrated to us Abdulrahman ibn Uthman ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Hatib, from his father, from his mother, Umm Jameel, Umm Muhammad ibn Hatib, who said: "I welcomed you from the land of Habasha. At night, or two nights, when I was in Medina, I cooked a dish for you, and the firewood ran out. I went to seek firewood and you grabbed the pot, which slipped from your hands. I returned to Medina and brought you to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! This is Muhammad ibn Hatib, the first person named after you.' He wiped your head, prayed for blessings, spat into your mouth, spat into your hands, saying: 'Remove the illness, Lord of the people, cure, for you are the healer, there is no cure except your cure, a cure that leaves no sickness behind.' I did not leave you until your hand was cured."

"What is between the brackets is not in the original manuscript. The phrase in the original manuscript reads as follows: 'My father Uthman narrated to me, from my grandfather Muhammad ibn Hatib.'"
